Rome in ancient times was the biggest empire of it’s time. The people were scared of Rome and Rome was especially against the Christians. Anyone who went against Rome, didn’t obey the law, sacrifice as they should, became a Christian, or didn’t worship the emperor they were usually persecuted, sanctioned or outright just killed on the spot. Rome didn’t believe in Jesus and did everything they could to destroy him but Christians suffered at the hands of Rome to follow Christ.
Rome has done it again! Still going against God and the Bible. Today making news headlines the gay community (Italian) celebrated in Rome after a degree made by city council where they announced the city’s first “Gay Street.” This street is a big shopping area is marked a “gay-friendly,” where homosexuals can be openly gay without fear. What does this mean for Rome?
Rome just as they were in ancient history is openly defiant against God and His Word. The past has repeated itself and its no wonder that Rome is not the vast empire it was. A nation that forgets God will be its demise, you can’t count on it and Rome is proof of that. Proverbs 14:34 and Psalm 9:17.
Similarity I can see it slowly happening in the United States. I heard in a sermon once that the United States was founded on people looking for God while other countries were founded on people looking for Gold. I believe this to be somewhat true.
When our forefathers came to the US they were looking for a better way of life. Some of the founding principles were faith. What happens when a country goes against God; Rome the mighty empire did fall and still is falling. Is this happening now to our Christian nation?
Does the United States want to do the same? Does anyone not care about I Corinthians 6:9 or I Timothy 1:10 and what it says? Is this what the world will compromise to live in a peaceful existence? The Bible says we should love everyone yes, but we don’t have to agree with sin nor do we have to participate in it. It should be exposed and dealt with in a peaceful manner however; the ones being defiant don’t want to repent of what they’re doing.
In past generations gay people were in a closet for a reason and that’s because they knew it was wrong. Now with our diversity and acceptance of others sins they can now come out of the closet and be open. I don’t see anything wrong with saying I am gay, I feel it, I know it and handle the problem; but not give in to the sin of it. Just like Sodom and Gomorrah I can see today, it won’t be long before we face God in judgment.
